It may sound a bit hellish, but the results will be dreamy. The Vampire Facelift is a non-surgical way to lift and tone skin. It reduces the appearance of aging using your own blood as the cure, without going under the knife.
The vampire facelift is a cosmetic procedure that involves taking your own blood (from the arm), processing it in a centrifuge to isolate PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and injecting it underneath the facial tissue to reduce the signs of wrinkles, resulting in a more youthful look.
The procedure has many other names including PRP microneedling, Selphyl, TruPRP, Emcyte, Regen and Pure Spin. The micro-needling device creates thousands of tiny pinpoints for the blood to be reinserted, reducing the appearance of fine lines, large pores, discoloration and scars while smoothing and tightening skin. Just one treatment often supplies satisfactory results, but as many as three over the course of six months may be recommended to optimize the procedure’s results. It may take up to one month for results of the procedure to be evident.
The most common targeted areas include the lower eyelids, between the brows and around the mouth, cheeks and forehead. All of these areas are typically affected by wrinkles, sunspots, large pores, uneven texture and discoloration—all of which can be improved with a vampire facelift. While the procedure provides a lot of benefits, significant volume enhancement and skin tightening are not common with PRP injections alone because volume can only be improved where it already exists. The procedure can be enhanced however with fillers, fat or Sculptra injections to achieve additional benefits. Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers will often be used before the blood is injected to sculpt a rounder, more youthful facial shape.
The procedure is considerably more advanced than other facials that promise similar benefits. Because of its complexity and advanced formula, the procedure offers three main benefits: improvement in skin texture and tone, restoration of facial shape and growing out new and younger tissue.
Pain is not a concern during the procedure because a numbing cream is used before the blood is re-injected into the face.
Those who choose to get a vampire facelift do so to correct skin imperfections such as wrinkles and fine lines, skin discoloration, sunspots, large pores and other issues. Vampire facelifts are most often used to treat normal signs of aging, resulting in a more youthful look.
The benefits of the vampire facelift are cosmetic. Most who undergo the procedure claim a clearer, more youthful complexion within one month of the procedure. The benefits continue to work over a period of time as the growth factors in the blood stimulate the body, creating new collagen and blood vessels. This results in better-looking facial skin. In this way, PRP injections work much like stem cells, targeting specific areas of the body and restoring them using injections from your own body. Additional injections can be combined with PRP to create a fuller, younger-looking face.
Those who get vampire facelifts don’t suffer from bruising the way they may with other procedures because the injections are thin and watery; instead bruising is limited to the injection sites and is minor in most cases. There is also no risk of allergic reaction because the injected substance is coming from the person’s own body (however reactions to the numbing cream are possible). Results typically last 15 months and there is no required downtime or major side effects associated with the procedure.
The risks of a vampire facelift is minimal. Allergic reactions to the numbing cream are possible, as well as bruising and redness at injection sites.
The vampire facial reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, corrects skin discoloration and sunspots, smoothes and tightens skin and returns the face to a fuller, younger-looking shape. It also stimulates collagen production, removes sagging skin and improves blood flow.
Many praise the vampire facelift as a better alternative to more invasive facelifts that require going under the knife and carry considerably more risks, as well as being much more expensive. It can also be used as a natural alternative to Botox. The results, however, are less extreme than traditional fillers and facelifts.
Typical costs for the vampire facelift cost between $1,500 and $2,500. However some patients have reported much lower costs. Where you go will also affect the price tag. Also, keep in mind that it may take several facials to see desired results.
